MANILA -- “Ang Probinsyano” star Yassi Pressman burst into tears as she asked her 89-year-old father, Ronnie, to stay strong, and promised him that she would always take care of him.

Yassi, 23, was joined by her British father in the Monday episode of the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay.”

The actress was asked for her message to Ronnie, who was seated beside her, and immediately she appeared to struggle to contain tears.

“I’m just going to promise that I will always take care of you, because you’re my Papito, you’re my ‘macho.’ You just promise to be strong always,” she said.

Ronnie responded: “I will. That’s to show my appreciation for your presence. I will, I will, I will.”

Yassi is the older of two daughters of Ronnie and their Filipino mother, Belcy. According to Yassi, her parents have separated, but remain on good terms.

In the earlier part of her interview, Yassi referred to her family as “my very fire in my life.”

“Growing up, we didn’t have so much. All we really had was the relationship with each other,” she said.

Despite her demanding work schedule — Yassi juggles “Ang Probinsyano” with endorsement shoots, a music career, as well as regular film projects — she makes it a point to allot time to spend with her family, especially her father.

“It’s very, very important, kasi wala akong masyadong foundation kundi family, and that’s my everything,” she said.

When she was asked during the pre-episode interview about her career goals and motivation, Yassi was unable to give a concrete answer, instead saying, “Wala naman.”

“Wala rin ako masyadong personal dreams growing up. Okay na, may house naman na kami. I just really do it to provide for all of us (family). Iyon lang ‘yung pinaka importante sa akin, ‘yung makita silang masaya,” she said.
