Fans haven't seen Maricel Soriano act on "Maalaala Mo Kaya" for more than a decade, but after Saturday's heart-wrenching episode, they were simply left clamoring for more from the award-winning actress.

The compliments from fans should mean a lot for Soriano, who said that she only returned to the drama anthology because she was so moved by the script — and it's safe to say that a lot of those who caught her performance felt the same.

For the episode, she played a poor woman who treated an illegitimate child she raised as her own. She found herself at a crossroad when her son discovered that her real mom is alive and started asking if he could meet her, convinced that she could provide him a better life.

Her son, portrayed by JC de Vera, however, would soon learn that her biological mom isn't as selfless nor caring as Soriano's character, in an episode that taught viewers the true and ideal meaning of the word "mother."
