MANILA (1st UPDATE) - Stylist and makeup artist Fanny Serrano, dubbed as one of the country's "Pioneers of Beauty", was brought to a hospital after he suffered a stroke Tuesday night, former actress Bianca Lapus said.

Serrano, whose real name is Felix Mariano Fausto Jr., was taken to the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City and was admitted for observation, said Lapus, as quoted by ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe.

Lapus added that Serrano had two minor strokes that affected his senses and motor skills.

In her latest update sent to Felipe as of 1 a.m., Lapus shared a message from actress Amy Austria saying Serrano's condition is getting better after initially being advised to be placed in an intensive care unit (ICU).

"Dapat kasi kanina ICU siya eh. Para makarest din at mabantayan mabuti. Pero walang available na ICU, buti na lang he got better. Salamat sa prayers," Austria's message read.

Meanwhile, actress Nadia Montenegro said Serrano is "awake and is aware of everything happening around him." Montenegro said: "He is in good hands with good doctors and of course his very close friends. ...He will be well soon."
