MANILA - Jodi Sta. Maria, the star of the long-running daytime series "Be Careful With My Heart," is determined to finish her college education and serve as an inspiration for her son Thirdy.

In an interview on "Tapatan Ni Tunying" to be aired on Thursday, the 32-year-old said she aspires to become a doctor in addition to her career as an actress.

"I want to set a good example for my son. I don’t want to be in a situation where I will force him to go to school, and then he will tell me, 'But you didn't even finish school," Sta. Maria said.

Thirdy is Sta. Maria's son with former husband, Pampi Lacson. The two officially announced their split in 2011.

Asked if she had a profession in mind, Sta. Maria said she wants to become a doctor. She last took up medical biology at the De La Salle University in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

"I want to be a doctor. I went to college but haven’t finished my course yet," she added. "I don’t know how to divide my time. But, I will return to school eventually."

Sta. Maria also opened up about the rumored split with boyfriend, Cavite Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla.

The latter recently downplayed the breakup as he attended the premiere of Sta. Maria's film, "Maria, Leonora, Teresa" held Tuesday.
