MANILA — Prior to her formal network transfer to ABS-CBN in October 2018, Regine Velasquez was seen as one of the guests of the Kapamilya network’s ball that year.

Velasquez was notably under the radar then, skipping the red carpet and only getting photographed inside the closed-door ballroom.

This year, however, was different for the music superstar, as she arrived Saturday night with her husband and now-fellow Kapamilya, Ogie Alcasid, in her “first, official” appearance at the ABS-CBN Ball.

“It’s my first time, officially!” Velasquez said before she and Alcasid walked the red carpet together.

“I always get stressed out kahit saan pang red carpet, kasi natatakot akong baka madapa ako. Pero maganda naman, kasi mayroon akong escort na sasalo sa akin — or, ako ang sasalo sa kaniya just in case madapa siya!” she added, in jest.

This year, the ABS-CBN Ball aims to raise funds in support of Bantay Bata 163’s Bantay Edukasyon program. It is also a celebration of the Kapamilya network’s 65 years of being in the service of the Filipino.
