His mother passed away in February.

"Playhouse" star Zanjoe Marudo said on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Wednesday that it took him a couple of weeks to come to terms with it.

"Alam ko naman na nasa hospital [siya] tapos biglaan, hindi namin alam," he shared as he recalled the moment he found out about the devastating news. "Mahirap eh."

He went on to explain that his outlook about life helped him move past his grief.

He remembered how his mother had always been his "number one" fan. The last message he received from her was a congratulatory one for bagging the lead role in "Playhouse."

He was on the late night talk show to promote the upcoming premiere of the series, which also stars Angelica Panganiban.
