MANILA - Korean superstar Sandara Park gave a young contestant another chance to achieve his dreams on the second episode of ABS-CBN's newest talent search "Pinoy Boyband Superstar" on Sunday.

After receiving only 72 percent of votes from female fans, 15-year-old Keanno Dela Cruz got the chance to show off his talents after Park let him inside the judges' booth.

Dela Cruz received the approval of three judges -- Park, Yeng Constantino and Aga Muhlach -- with his performance of One Direction's "Night Changes."

"Ang ganda ng boses mo. Parang pop star. Tama 'yung desisyon ko," Park told Dela Cruz.

"Gusto ko mag-thank you kay Dara kasi binigyan ka niya ng pagkakataon," Constantino added.

Comedian Vice Ganda, on the other hand, did not vote for Dela Cruz to move on to the next round.

"Meron kang boses na magand, na pwedeng i-improve. Gusto mo maging artista, gusto mong sumayaw, gusto mong kumanta. Maganda 'yan, marami kang gustong gawin. Kailangan isa doon, mag-excel ka. Kaya siguro 'yun ang dahilan kung bakit nakukulangan ako, wala akong masyadong makitang character for now. Pero bata ka pa naman. You have all the time to improve," he said.

Other contestants who managed to move on to the next round were Jayvee and Bjorn Mendoza, dubbed "Twinkabogable," and 18-year-old Markus Paterson.

The Mendoza twins received a whopping 95 percent of votes from female fans for their fun and bubbly character.

They also received four votes from the judges for their mashup performance.

"Feeling ko nga hindi niyo kailangan itong 'Boyband Superstar' eh. Duo lang kayo, The Twinkabogable, uubra na 'yan eh," Vice told the two.

"Masaya kayong panoorin. Nakakatuwa. Magaling kayo," Muhlach added.

Meanwhile, Paterson, who received 92 percent of votes from female fans, also received four votes from the judges.

"Maganda 'yung pormahan mo, napapatili mo 'yung mga babae. 'Yung pormahan mo, Luis Manzano ang pormahan eh. Tapos 'yung mukha mo, you remind me of Albie Casiño, na may pagka-Enrique Gil," Vice told Paterson.

"Parang pop star na pop star ang dating. Parang bagay na bagay ka dito sa 'Pinoy Boyband Superstar,'" Park added.

Three other contestants, Allen Cecilio, Ford Valencia and Niel Murillo, also managed to move on to the next round on the show's pilot episode on Saturday.

"Pinoy Boyband Superstar" is patterned after "La Banda," a Latin American program created by music mogul Simon Cowell, the man behind One Direction. It aims to form the "ultimate" Filipino boyband by plucking talented teens from across the country and have them compete with one another for a spot in the five-member group.

As for the format, the aspiring teens will first need to woo 500 female fans with their looks, personality, and charm before getting the chance to face the superstar judges.

To move on to the next round, they will then have to show off their singing talent. At least three votes from the four judges would mean that they are qualified for the next level of the competition.

Hosted by Billy Crawford, "Pinoy Boyband Superstar" airs Saturdays after "Home Sweetie Home" and on Sundays after "Goin' Bulilit."
