MANILA - Actress Denise Laurel is set to undergo surgery to remove a cyst from her breast.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News and other entertainment reporters on Thursday, Laurel said she now has time for the surgery as they have finished taping for the hit afternoon series "The Better Half," which is now down to its last two weeks.

"Now that we have a definite date [for the soap's finale], it will be easier for me. After I rest for like a week, or maybe after the Star Magic Ball, they're just gonna take out the lump. It's a surgery... They are just going to take out the cyst," she said.

According to Laurel, the cyst is benign but she still wants it removed. "Of course at first it was alarming to them because I had a lot. I have in my lymph nodes, my breast, and my ovaries," she shared.

Laurel said she was advised to get enough sleep, which is hard for her given her work as an actress, after surgery.

"They say that sleep is the number one thing that you should do, but my profession requires me to not sleep. So you are torn, you want to do what you love and you are blessed to get paid to do what you love. But then your body... I've been puyat for 21, going 22 years this September," she said.

It was in June last year when Laurel had a cancer scare.
