Vice Ganda takes home 3 trophies

MANILA – Kim Chiu, Coco Martin and Ted Failon were among the Kapamilya personalities recognized at the 4th EdukCircle Awards held at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City on Sunday.

Failon was named Best Male Newscaster, while Tina Monzon-Palma was awarded Most Outstanding Journalist in Public Service. Alvin Elchico and Bernadette Sembrano of “Salamat Dok” were recognized as Best Health Show Hosts.

Chiu and her “Bride for Rent” leading man Xian Lim were awarded Most Influencial Film Actress and Actor, respectively.

“Nakaka-inspire to do movies na hindi lang nakakatawa kundi may aral para sa mga viewers,” Chiu said of the award.

The actress’ “Ikaw Lamang” co-star, Coco Martin, received the Best TV Drama Actor award, marking the fourth consecutive year he was honored by the organization composed of deans and students.

“Sobra akong nagpapasalamat sa EdukCircle sa apat na taon na sunud-sunod na binigyan nila ako ng award,” he said.

Celebrity couple Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano were also among the winners on Sunday.

“Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na itong araw na ito kasama ko ang mahal na tao sa buhay ko,” said Locsin, who was named Best TV Drama Actress. “Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na ise-share mo itong karangalan sa taong mahal mo.”

Manzano, who won Best Game Show Host, added: “Awards like these are a different, kind of special pag estudyante ang bumoto. It's a first and hopefully not the last!”

“It’s Showtime” co-host Vice Ganda was the most-awarded personality this year, having been named Best Talk Show Host, Best TV Comedian and Most Influential Film Celebrity.

Onscreen sweethearts Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, meanwhile, were named Most Influential Teen Actress and Actor.

Also among the Kapamilya actors honored with Most Influential trophies were Kris Aquino, John Lloyd Cruz, Sarah Geronimo, Carmina Villaroel and her family, Richard Yap, Judy Ann Santos, Toni Gonzaga, Piolo Pascual and Bimby Yap. -- Report from Gretchen Fullido, ABS-CBN News
