MANILA — Joshua Garcia and Janella Salvador, who both come from successful “love teams,” are forming a new tandem via the new gothic romance “The Killer Bride,” and they agree that the fresh pairing came at the right time.

Garcia has starred in 4 films and a teleserye with Julia Barretto, his former girlfriend, in a span of just 3 years; while Salvador was paired with Elmo Magalona, her former boyfriend, in a TV series and 2 movies.

While Garcia and Salvador owe their popularity, in part, to “JoshLia” and “ElNella,” respectively, the two agreed that getting paired with a different star will only benefit their careers and contribute to their growth as actors.

“This is the right time for us, and I’m happy,” Garcia said on Thursday during a media conference with Salvador, just days before the Monday, August 12, debut of “The Killer Bride” on primetime.

Garcia and Salvador noted that they had been given numerous projects meant to pair them, which ultimately would not push through, to give way to their more tested, respective love teams at the time.

Coincidentally, Garcia and Salvador are both no longer attached to their onscreen partners. Garcia’s breakup with Barretto has been the subject of controversy in the last two months, while Salvador and Magalona have been separated for a year.
