MANILA - Ten years ago, ABS-CBN launched iWant TV as a digital-streaming service where fans can catch their favorite teleseryes --anytime they want, anywhere they want.
Now, the Kapamilya network is offering something new to the platform's subscribers.
On Tuesday, ABS-CBN debuted its first iWant TV originals: "Umbra: Anino sa Dilim," a new animated show that explores the horrific side of the country's supernatural lore and modern urban legends.
The series, which features episodes about a vengeful demon called Batibat and a killer "white lady," among others, is the first of slate of originals designed to boost viewing on the digital platform.
A new episode will air every Tuesday. An app based on the series will also be made available soon, which will allow fans to "experience" the the terror themselves through augmented reality.
The introduction of iWant TV originals is the latest move from ABS-CBN, as it aims to rapidly transition into the digital space in response to the change in Filipino viewing habits.
