Nadine Lustre on Monday started shooting her first lead role in a romance movie without her onscreen and real-life partner James Reid.

Directed by Irene Villamor, the director behind the 2018 blockbuster "Sid and Aya: Not a Love Story," "Ulan" sees Lustre paired with three leading men: Xian Lim, Marco Gumabao, and AJ Muhlach.

On Instagram, Viva Artists Agency, which manages Lustre's career, shared snippets of the filming of "Ulan." One shot shows Lustre, in a long dress and with an umbrella, approaching a doorway.

Another sneak peek from Neil Arce, one of the producer of "Ulan," shows a closeup of a smiling Lustre wearing the same floral dress.

Lustre and Villamor have been cautious not to detail the plot of "Ulan," but hinted that it centers on the actress' character as she experiences three kinds of romantic love, presumably with each of the lead actors.

"Parang bago siyang stepping stone para sa 'kin kasi nga this time, hiwalay kami ni James," Lustre said of the project after its story conference in June. "Dito ko po talaga malalaman kung kaya ko ba nang wala siya."

"It's healthy to be able to work separately and together at the same time. At least we can both grow together and then grow separately," she added at the time.

Similarly, Reid is gearing up for the release of his first lead role in a big-screen romance without Lustre. In "Miss Granny," he is working alongside pop star Sarah Geronimo. It hits cinemas on August 22.
