MANILA – Actor John Estrada is glad to be given a chance to play a "different" role from what he usually portrays on TV.

In his upcoming film “Trophy Wife,” Estrada said he is elated that his character is something he hasn’t done in a long time.

“Maganda ang twist nito. Kaya ko rin tinanggap ito kasi iba ako dito. Kasi sa mga soap ng ABS, medyo mababait ako. But I’m excited here, medyo hirap lang ako sa pagiging masama pero kaya naman,” he said.

Estrada currently appears on the Kapamilya series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” where he plays an NBI agent who is helping out the character portrayed by Judy Ann Santos.

Prior to this series, Estrada had a soap with John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo (A Beautiful Affair) where he also played the role of the person who eventually had to let go for the sake of love.

Without further disclosing any other details, Estrada said his role in “Trophy Wife” will show a different side of him.

Estrada will be working with Heart Evangelista, Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay in “Trophy Wife.”

“I’ve worked with Heart before sa ‘Hiram’ but with Derek not yet and with Cristine not yet. So I’m excited,” he said.

Aside from working with new actors, Estrada said he also considers it an honor to be directed by Elwood Perez.

“Ang galing niya. It’s my first time to work with him. Akala ko komportable na ako sa craft ko pero iba siya. Of course you learn something every day. I’ve learned a lot from him,” he said.
