Child star Awra Briguela shows off his superhero pose at the press conference for his upcoming 'Wansapanataym' series. ABS-CBN

He shot to fame thanks to his role in "Ang Probinsyano" as a loud, eccentric child whose heart is always in the right place.

Now, Awra Briguela is ready to step up his heroics --playing the role of a kid who transforms into a superhero using a magical rock for a series of "Wansapanataym" episodes.

Briguela will star in "Wansapanataym Presents: Amazing Ving," which is scheduled to begin airing Sunday, alongside Roderick Paulate, Carmi Martin, Kisses Delavin, Marco Gallo, and AC Bonifacio.

In a press conference held Thursday, Briguela promised fans that he will show a different side of him that they haven't seen before in the series--a side that showcases his willingness to do action scenes.

"Ibang-iba po ako dito," he teased, before adding: "Dito po, mapapaisip po kayo kung lalaki or bakla ako."

Jokes aside, he said that fans will be treated to more of his comedic antics, especially since he has scenes with Paulate, a veteran comedian. "Makikita niyo rin po iyong action na hindi ko pa nagagawa sa buong buhay ko."

Briguela also shared his joy that he continues to get roles, well after his video in which he could be seen imitating lines from his favorite drama films went viral, paving the way for him to break into showbiz.

Aside from the "Wansapanataym" gig and his role in "Ang Probinsyano," Briguela is also included in "Ang Panday," the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival 2017 entry from Coco Martin.

"Super happy kasi love ko iyong trabaho ko," he said.
