MANILA -- It appears this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is still pushing through, even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the movie industry in general, with cinemas remaining closed and restrictions forced on those who want to begin filming again.

This, after the organizers of the MMFF announced this Friday the first four entries for the 2020 edition.

Based on script submissions, these include a pair of comedies from Vice Ganda and celebrity sisters Alex and Toni Gonzaga, a Regal Films horror movie starring Joshua Garcia, and what is billed to be a big-budget animated, fantasy epic titled "Magikland."
