MANILA -- An ABS-CBN online singing contest broadcast through a streaming app, hosted by Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber, has won two international awards for being innovative.

Star Hunt: The Global Showdown, the Kapamilya network's first-ever online singing competition, won two awards at the 2020 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards --a gold for the Innovation in Social Apps category, and a silver for the Innovation in Entertainment Apps category.

The singing contest was held through the streaming platform Kumu last December, and has brought real-life impact, affording Filipino singers from various countries a wide audience.

Its first winner, Denize Castillo, a 21-year-old student, took home a prize of $10,000 (nearly P500,000) and a contract with Star Music.

It is one of the eight award programs of the overall Stevie Awards, which has billed itself as the "world's premier business awards."

It was said to be created to "honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of working professionals worldwide."
