MANILA - He made attempts to remain optimistic, saying that these hardships are just a "pre-show" that will all lead to a "happy ending."

But on "It's Showtime" this Saturday, host Vice Ganda could not hide how much he was hurt by the decision of lawmakers to vote against ABS-CBN's franchise application, which keeps the network's main broadcast platforms off the air and places thousands of jobs at risk.

The comedian was overcome with emotion during the show's opening, unable to sing his parts.

He was also seen walking out in the middle of it.

On Twitter, moments after the incident, Vice Ganda explained to his fans: "Kailangan kong umexit sa point na 'yun para umiyak. I couldn't fake it. Pero ok nako after humagulgol."

Vice Ganda was able to return following a commercial break, hosting the segment "Pamilyanaryo" with co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario.

Vice Ganda has been vocal on the issue of the ABS-CBN franchise, constantly pleading to lawmakers to grant it so that he and his co-hosts could continue to entertain Filipinos.

Reacting on the decision of a House committee to block the franchise, he told ABS-CBN's Mario Dumaual: "Ang ABS-CBN, ang serbisyong ibinigay niya ay naging malaking bahagi ng araw-araw na buhay ng mga Pilipino. Napakalaking bahagi."

He added: "Tungkol ito sa ating lahat. Hindi ito tungkol lang sa mga taga-ABS-CBN, sa mga artista. Tungkol ito sa ating lahat. Tungkol ito sa buhay natin."

Vice Ganda also tweeted: "It's a show! At lahat yan pre show lang. Actually masyado na ngang mahaba kasi andaming nagpabibong magfront act. Now it’s the main event."

"Let’s watch and be amazed as the LORD GOD performs."
