MANILA — Fans of "Wildflower" are in for a "wilder" ride as Maja Salvador, who portrayed the ruthless Lily Cruz in the hit drama, takes on another teleserye lead role via the upcoming "The Killer Bride."

Salvador, 30, will portray the titular character Camilla, a woman whose forbidden love with the scion of a rival family results in her apparent death on their wedding day.

Joining Salvador in the cast is returning Kapamilya actor Geoff Eigenmann as Vito, Camilla's love interest; and the fresh team-up of Janella Salvador and Joshua Garcia, who play Emma and Elias, respectively.

One of the central mysteries of "The Killer Bride," the cast revealed, is Emma's claim of "possession" by the ghost of Camilla.

"Mas wild!" Maja Salvador said, when asked how she would compare the new ABS-CBN series with the decidedly camp and action-packed "Wildflower."

"Ang pinagkaiba niya sa ibang teleserye," she explained, "kung iyong iba, pinaglalaban ang pagmamahalan, ito, 'yung taong minamahal mo, 'yung taong pinagkakatiwalaan mo, hindi mo alam, siya ang puwedeng pumatay sa 'yo."

The cast members spoke with ABS-CBN News during the recent media announcement of "The Killer Bride," which is billed as a gothic romance series set in the fictional Las Espadas.

The death of Camilla, according to Janella Salvador, sets off a "curse" that grips the superstitious town with fearful stories of a vengeful, killer bride. Emma, her character, arrives in Las Espadas as a supposed vessel of Camilla, triggering fresh conflicts as well as her own love story with the skeptical Elias.

Whether the casting of the two Salvadors, who are real-life distant relatives, was inspired by the ties of their characters in "The Killer Bride" remains to be seen. The two were tight-lipped on the fate of Camilla, and whether there is truth to Emma's possession. The younger Salvador, however, did offer that Emma is a mortuary makeup artist.

While the cast agreed that the Dado Lumibao series is gothic with a mix of suspense, Maja Salvador pointed out that "ABS-CBN will always offer family-oriented stories" that are rooted in love.

"Siyempre, sa bawat storya, hindi nawawala ang love. Bakit tayo nakakagawa ng kasamaan? Bakit tayo nagkakagulo? It's because of love. Dahil pa rin sa pag-ibig, kung bakit nagkaroon ng killer bride," she said.

Directed by Dado Lumibao, "The Killer Bride" has a target premiere date in August. Cast members also include Eddie Gutierrez, Aurora Sevilla, Lara Quigaman, Ara Arida, James Blanco, Sam Concepcion, Cris Villanueva, Jobelle Salvador, Dominic Ochoa, Alexa Ilacad, Loren Burgos, Pamu Pamorada, Malou de Guzman, Pepe Herrera, Eric Nicolas, Keanna Reeves, and Neil Coleta.
