MANILA, Philippines - The late Fernando Poe, Jr.’s low-key half-brother-actor Conrad Poe died Saturday morning in his home in Meycauayan, Bulacan.

He was 62.

Conrad, son of the late Fernando Poe, Sr. with former leading lady, actress Patricia Mijares, had been nursing a heart disease before suffering a fatal stroke before dawn on Saturday.

Zeny Poe, Conrad’s common-law wife, confirmed the news to abs-cbnNEWS.com She regretted not being with her husband when he passed on.

We were supposed to go there together dahil siya naman talaga ang ninong at hindi ako.

Take care of yourself.’

Zeny said Conrad must have felt an omen was coming.

“‘Yon pala, huli na naming pagsasama ‘yon. Kung alam ko lang, hindi na ako tumuloy sa Nueva Ecija,” she said, her tears streaming.

Although she was adamant to pursue the wedding sponsorship, Zeny added she had to travel to Nueva Ecija for 10 long hours because it was a prior commitment.

However, she added that Conrad was on her mind all the way to the ceremony.

She only learned of Conrad’s passing Saturday morning when actor Rey Roldan called her on the phone.

She said she went immediately to Arlington Memorial Chapels late Saturday afternoon where Conrad’s remains were to be laid, but she had to wait until his body was embalmed and brought there.

Among the early mourners were actors Efren Reyes, Jr., Bert Vibar, Amay Bisaya, and Conrad’s half-sister Elizabeth Poe.

Fernando Poe Jr., also known as The King of Philippine movies, died in December 14, 2004 after suffering a stroke. He was 65. He lost to incumbent President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in a fraud-marred presidential election in May 2004.
