MANILA -- Veteran actor Albert Martinez received what he considers the "best Father's Day gift ever."

In an interview on DZMM on Sunday, Martinez announced that he will soon become a grandfather.

"Actually, this is the best Father's Day celebration and the best Father's Day gift na nakuha ko ever. I received a gift from Alyanna in a box. When I opened it, I saw a note, and then I saw a bib," he said.

"And then I saw, we're not sure if it's a boy or a girl, but for sure, you're a lolo," Martinez added.

The actor said he cried after reading his daughter's note. "I've been waiting for the longest time," Martinez added.

For Martinez, it doesn't matter if his first grandchild is a boy or a girl.

"It doesn't really matter. What's important is healthy lumabas 'yung bata, and walang problema. 'Yun na 'yung happiness naming lahat," he said.

Alyanna also made the announcement on her Instagram account.

"Surprise! Happy 1st Father's Day @roymacam," Alyanna wrote, greeting her husband Roy Macam.

Alyanna and her husband got married twice last year.
