MANILA—The family of Eddie Garcia has agreed to place the multi-awarded actor, who remains comatose, on DNR or “do-not-resuscitate” status, according to their spokesperson.

In a medical bulletin released Friday night, Dr. Tony Rebosa belied reports that the family of Garcia has considered discontinuing life support for the actor.

“Please be informed that the family of Mr. Eddie Garcia has not authorized nor has it consenteda to withdrawal of life support,” the statement read.

“They have however agreed to place him on DNR status,” Rebosa added.

Garcia, 90, sustained a severe cervical fracture after tripping and falling while shooting a scene GMA Network TV series last June 8.

The injury led to his “comatose state with minimal spontaneous respiration,” an earlier medical update said.

As recently as Thursday, Garcia’s long-time partner, Lilibeth Romero, said her family had yet to agree to placing him under DNR status, saying she was “still hoping for a miracle.”

“I will hang on until he’s there,” she said.
