MANILA – “How?”

This was the first question that popped in Judy Ann Santos’ mind when she was first offered the upcoming documentary-drama “Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan,” which is part of the maiden line up of the new Kapamilya Channel.

While she immediately accepted the project without any hesitations, Santos said during a virtual press conference for the show on Wednesday that she also acknowledged the challenges that they would have to overcome in shooting the program.

“When Mother B texted me, ay may show, may gagawin, may ipi-pitch. And then nandoon 'yung question na paano ito gagawin sa panahon na ito? Paano tayo gagalaw? Paano tayo kikilos? Ang isa pang tanong talaga ay paano tayo ipapalabas para tayo ay makapagpasalamat?” she said.

Nonetheless, Santos said she felt overwhelmed with the trust given to her to host an inspiring show such as this.

“Para sa akin, long overdue na ipakita natin ang kindness ng bawat isang tao na hindi lang celebrity or ng pulitiko,” she said.

When asked what are the difficulties that they encountered in filming, Santos said: “First time ito sa akin. Lahat hangga't maaari, dumaan sa proseso kung lalabas ka. It’s a tedious thing to do but everything and everyone should go through a first in their lives.”

“At 42, hindi ko maiisip na magiging four-man team kami na gagawa ng spiels. There’s a lot of appreciation for people behind the camera more so now. Kung dati, iba 'yung respeto ko sa kanila, mas mataas lalo ang respeto ko ngayon. It’s not an easy job to do,” she added.

Despite this, Santos is happy to be an instrument in showing to Kapamilya viewers that kindness is in no way to be considered an expensive commodity even in trying times such as today.

“I am more than thankful that this show was offered to me. Ako ang naisip nila. Thank God for work because you’ll be able to help more people kahit paunti-unti. Iniisip ko na lang na this job, hindi ibibigay sa akin kung hindi nila nakikitaan na kaya ko ito itawid,” she said.

Kapamilya Channel will be available starting June 13 on SKY, Cablelink, G Sat, and most member-cable operators of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) nationwide.

Aside from "Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan," Kapamilya Channel's public service programming also includes "Iba 'Yan" with Angel Locsin.

The cable and satellite TV channels that will carry the Kapamilya Channel are owned and operated by other companies and are not covered by the cease and desist order issued by the NTC to ABS-CBN.
