MANILA—Angel Locsin cried foul on Saturday over Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III liking a tweet saying she’s a supporter of the New People’s Army.

“I saw that you liked this tweet,” Locsin wrote, tagging Sotto's Twitter account. “I will never support terrorists, nor will I ever support any kind of violence.”

“You have the right to like any tweet. And we have the right to voice out our opinions. I hope we don’t get tagged as terrorist for doing so. Thank you,” she added.

Locsin has been vocal about her disapproval of the new anti-terror bill, of which Sotto is a principal author at the Senate.

The Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 proposes sweeping powers, such as warrantless arrests and wiretapping of suspected terrorists, which have alarmed rights groups.

Locsin is firm with her their stand against it by joining calls to “junk” the bill.

Malacañang, in response to criticisms, said the bill won’t suppress free speech.

The Palace also defended President Rodrigo Duterte’s move to certify the bill as urgent amid the coronavirus crisis, saying it had been pending in Congress for four years.
