MANILA – Daniel Padilla believes the best actress award Kathryn Bernardo recently received is long overdue.

Bernardo and Sarah Geronimo tied for best actress at the 35th PMPC Star Awards for Movies held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila last Sunday.

Bernardo bagged the award for her role in "The Hows of Us,” while Geronimo was recognized for her performance in the Filipino adaptation of the Korean film "Miss Granny.”

"Sabi ko nga sa inyo, matagal na ito dapat nakuha, pero ito siyempre nakamit na niya. I'm very, very proud, she deserves it. Talagang mapupunta ka sa punto na 'yun. Ako naman, lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya, 'Para sa iyo talaga 'yan,'” Padilla said in an interview with PEP.

Padilla credits the success of “The Hows of Us” to the collective effort of everyone involved, especially Bernardo.

"Kung bakit ganun kaganda 'yung pelikula na 'yun, kung bakit ganun kaganda 'yung istorya, talagang nagampanan ng characters, lalo na si Kathryn. She deserves this and she deserves more," he said.

Meanwhile, Padilla assured their fans that he and Bernardo will work again for a project in the future.

“Yes, mayroon pa rin tayo. Naghahanap lang tayo ng magandang timing,” he said. "Saka siyempre ilalabas muna 'yung pelikula ni Kathryn saka gagawa tayo."

Since he already mentioned that he will also do a project without Bernardo, Padilla was asked if it is possible that he and James Reid could star in movie together.

"Ayaw ko namang maging sell-out lang ng pelikula dahil magkasama lang kami at gagawa kami," he said.

Padilla stressed he is open to work with Reid as long as there is a nice material.

The two recently joined forces for a television commercial, much to the delight of their respective fan bases.

When asked to describe Reid, Padilla said: “Steady lang, simple. Mabait na tao 'yun, tahimik lang. Ako lang ang magulo sa shoot na 'yun. Tahimik lang talaga si James."
