MANILA — A slip of the tongue from a contestant referring to “It’s Showtime” as a different variety show snowballed into a running joke which resulted in an unexpected phone patch from TV host Willie Revillame on Monday.
Revillame, whose show “Wowowee” formerly occupied the same time slot as “It’s Showtime” on ABS-CBN, spoke with the Kapamilya mainstays through a phone call with Ogie Alcasid.
The amusing exchange took place during the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment, where Alcasid is a regular judge.
Daily contender Clyde Borongan had nearly said “Wowowin,” Revillame’s ongoing GMA-7 program, when he greeted his wife on air. Stopping to correct himself proved futile, as the hosts, including Vice Ganda, picked it up and ran with the joke.
At that point, Alcasid had Revillame on the phone, leading to a humorous back-and-forth about the former ABS-CBN star possibly guesting on “It’s Showtime.”
“Paalala ko lang, dati kong time slot ‘yan, kinuha niyo!” Revillame quipped.
While much of the conversation was in jest, Revillame did pledge to grant the contestant’s request as a gift for his child — a camera drone.
