MANILA — Actor Mccoy de Leon is offering to help the person behind a viral Facebook post falsely quoting him on the topic of the government shutdown of his home network ABS-CBN.

In a public statement on his personal Facebook profile, de Leon addressed the viral post from one Rafael Chuy. The fabricated quote was maliciously made to look like a quote card from ABS-CBN News, which has since disowned it.

"Rafael Chuy, kung ikaw man ang gumawa nito o kung sino man 'yung taong gumawa nito para sa akin. Kung mababasa mo 'to wala akong galit, gusto ko sana malaman kung saan kita pwede makausap dahil gusto kitang tulungan," de Leon wrote.

He called on the individual to message him through any of his social media channels, even specifiying his account names.

"Hindi ako ma-social media na tao pero para sa 'yo handa ako makikipag-usap kahit ano mang oras. Tutulungan kita pati ang pamilya mo dahil alam ko sa panahon ngayon maraming taong naghahanap ng pagkakakitaan, atensyon at tulong. Kung nababasa mo man 'to, bukal sa puso ko ang tumulong mag-aantay ako," he said.

De Leon, who posted his callout last week, has yet to give an update as to whether the person behind the fake quote has reached out to him.

Alongside the likes of Angel Locsin, Coco Martin, and Kim Chiu, De Leon is one of several ABS-CBN celebrities who became the target of online trolls amid the #LabanKapamilya campaign protesting the government closure of the network's broadcast operations.
