"I am going to work hard to make her known international." These were rapper apl.de.ap's words in 2013 after successfully recruiting into his team Jessica Reynoso in the first-ever season of "The Voice of the Philippines."

Reynoso, 16 at the time, shared her story of not having ever met her African-American father -- a situation that apl.de.ap personally identified with, as he shares a similar history, prompting him to call the aspiring singer his "long-lost sister."

Ultimately, Reynoso made it to the live shows of "The Voice of the Philippines" as a finalist. But her coach took to the finale Janice Javier, who placed third to eventual winner Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea.

Fast-forward to five years later, apl.de.ap appears to have made good on his promise to introduce Reynoso to an international audience, as she joined the rapper's iconic hip hop group The Black Eyed Peas in its comeback music video.

Released last week as a single, "Ring the Alarm" is a rap piece about the ills of modern society, with a sung chorus by Reynoso. In its music video, Reynoso's face is covered although her figure is shown prominently.

Uncredited in the music video's description or title on YouTube, fans of The Black Eyed Peas wondered if Reynoso was the replacement of Fergie, the original and only female member of the group since its breakout 2003 hit "Where is the Love?".

While Reynoso's parts in the video are seen in the official Instagram pages of Reynoso, apl.de.ap, and The Black Eyed Peas, she is not explicitly identified as a member of the group.

"So thankful and so blessed to be able to be a part of this project," she wrote in the caption of a clip from "Ring the Alarm" she posted on Instagram.

Prior to "Ring the Alarm," Reynoso has enjoyed a blossoming career in the United States with a number of appearances in international music festivals. Notably, she's been tapped to perform the American national anthem at numerous NBA games, most recently in January.

In 2014, she signed with apl.de.ap's record label, BMBX, which aims to bring Southeast Asian musical acts to an international audience. Since then, Reynoso appears to have formed a close relationship with other The Black Eyed Peas members, as she continues to be mentored by apl.de.ap.
