MANILA -- Filipino "ReVeluvs" now have a better excuse to blast Red Velvet's songs as the South Korean girl group is set to perform in Manila next month.

Red Velvet will headline the K-Pop World Music Festival 2019, to be staged at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 9, alongside fellow SM Entertainment group NCT 127.

Since their debut in August 2014, the 5-piece act has released several albums, extended plays, and chart-topping singles that have propelled them to the upper echelons of the K-pop scene.

Perhaps most notable in the group's career, so far, was their inclusion in the lineup of elite South Korean artists that performed in the North Korean capital last April 2018.

Leader Irene has also become somewhat of a popular figure among Filipino netizens, thanks to a Facebook page that kept uploading the same dancing clip of her but set to different songs.

Before the girls land on Philippine soil to dazzle local fans and win over more listeners, here's 5 Red Velvet songs we recommend you give a try:

1. "Happiness"

Red Velvet's perky debut song, "Happiness," is described as a fusion of Europop, strong synths, and African tribal beats. It urges listeners to "believe in the power of optimism" and appreciate the small things in everyday life.

2. "Automatic"

The slow-tempo R&B "Automatic" is the group's first song as a quintet following Yeri's addition in March 2015. Sleek and sultry, "Automatic" showcases the group's "velvet" or mature side.

3. "Russian Roulette"

"Russian Roulette" is sweet, synth-pop perfection. What makes it all the more of a curiosity is how the song meshes well with a morbid music video, which follows the members apparently attempting to kill each other.

4. "Red Flavor"

"Red Flavor" packs a powerful punch from the get-go, opening with its hypnotic chorus largely driven by the members' impressive vocal harmony. It is arguably one of the best K-pop summer songs in recent years.

5. "Bad Boy"

Seductive yet subtle, "Bad Boy" is a delicious synth-driven track with heavy bass and trap elements. The song talks about the relationship between the titular "bad boy" and a cold woman. It's also worth noting how cool the members look in athleisure in the music video.
