MANILA—"It's going to happen," promised mayor-elect Isko Moreno as he talked about his plans to stage an annual pride parade in Manila, which, he said, would represent a step towards achieving a more inclusive city where everyone is treated equally.

"Palambutin natin ang karakter ng Maynila, na ang Maynila ay hindi lang puro tapang," he said in an interview on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" this Wednesday, adding: "Let's make it vibrant."

It remains unclear whether he intends to hold a different pride activity from the already long-established Metro Manila Pride March and Festival, which happens every June, or if he plans to sponsor it.

In the same interview, Moreno also bared his idea of holding a film festival in the city focused on promoting independent movies.

He explained that this was one of his ways of giving back to the showbiz industry, where he first made his name as an actor.
