Cristine Reyes appeared to brace herself for questions on her marriage, as she made her first public appearance after she was rumored to have separated from her husband, Ali Khatibi.

When that precise moment happened Sunday night on the sidelines of the 49th Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Awards, the 29-year-old actress instantly turned her back to reporters and proceeded to the event proper.

Before that, Reyes was answering questions about her award this year, as Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for "Seven Sundays," saying she considers the recognition a new "blessing." She last got an award from the organization in 2012, as Box Office Queen for "No Other Woman."

Reyes, who has a daughter with Khatibi, has decidely been mum on the latest round of rumors surrounding her marriage. Early this month, she courted intrigue when she appeared to un-follow Khatibi on Instagram, only to follow him again a few days later.

Despite their active presence on social media, eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the two have not shared photos of each other for months. While Reyes denied in March that her marriage was on the rocks, rumors persisted, and in April, the actress's sister and fellow actress Ara Mina was cornered on the issue.

While she neither confirmed nor denied the separation, Mina pointed out that it is normal for couples to have misunderstandings. "Normal lang naman sa mga mag-asawa ang may hindi pagkaka-intindihan. Hindi naman siguro away -- indifferences [sic]," she said at the time.
