BAGUIO CITY -- The Philippine Army conferred the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on newly commissioned reserve officer Matteo Guidicelli at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City Monday.
Guidicelli said joining the Army Reserve Command is his way of contributing to the country.
“Because I’m a Filipino and I love my country. I think this is another avenue na i-share ko yung sarili ko sa bansa ko… Kumbaga makatulong ako sa bansa ko,” Guidicelli shared.
He is set to undergo a 45-day Scout Ranger training in Camp Pecson in Bulacan on May 27.
“I’m expecting it to be very, very physical but it doesn’t have to be in the field. The Army has a lot of units that can cater to a lot of people from humanitarian efforts, to disaster, to first aid. There are many different avenues," he said.
Guidicelli joined the Philippine Army’s road show where he was part of the assault team. It was done to encourage PMA cadets and other civilians to join the army.
He joined the Philippine Army as a reservist in April.
Prior to his entry as Army reservist, Guidicelli also joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary in March alongside celebrities Erwan Heussaff and Nico Bolzico.
