MANILA – Claudine Barretto claims Raymart Santiago deceived her by making her believe that their first marriage was real.
In an exclusive interview with “Buzz ng Bayan” host Boy Abunda, Barretto said she regrets marrying Santiago again in 2006 even after she learned that their first wedding in 2004 was “fake.”
“[I regret] na pinakasalan ko ulit si Raymart nung March 27, 2006 dahil hindi lang ako 'yung nilinlang niya kundi ang buong sambayanang Pilipino because hindi pasok yun eh, it was fake,” she said.
“I don’t know [why], hindi niya lang pinasok. Just like our first one on May 2, 2004. It was registered 2006, a month before the March [wedding]. Hindi pala kami kasal the whole time. We were living in pala, living in sin. So ganun pala niya ako niloko ng sobra. Ang mali ko doon, I should have backed out na,” she said.
Santiago’s lawyer, Atty. Ruth Castelo, however, denied Barretto’s allegations.
“Na-late lang ng pag-register. Totoo naman ‘yun. But the fact is, it's still registered. It's not fake,” she stressed.
Aside from this, Barretto said she also feels bad that her husband sided with their former maids in the theft case they filed against her.
“Raymart witnessed for them against me para maipit ako,” she said. “Mahirap talaga ang justice sa Pilipinas. Mahirap talaga kalaban ang maraming pera.”
Castelo, however, clarified that Santiago was not a party to the case.
“Nag-testify si Raymart. Sinabi niya na hindi ninakaw ng mga maid kasi nasa kanya at sa kanya 'yun. Nag-witness lang si Raymart. He's not a party to the case. He was a witness,” she said.
In addition to the theft case, Barretto also has an ongoing legal battle with Santiago after she accused him of "physical, sexual, psychological and economic" abuse.
