MANILA - Toni Gonzaga returned to her hosting job on Sunday night with her new show “I Feel U.”

Streaming on the official Facebook pages of ABS-CBN Films, TFC Online, ABS-CBN Music, and One Music PH, the program will have fresh episodes every Sunday featuring feel-good and inspiring stories amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The show started nung nakakuha ako ng text mula kay Mico del Rosario na may ipi-pitch daw sila sa akin. Akala ko for a movie but he said na it’s a show and they wanted me to be onboard with it,” Gonzaga said in a virtual press conference on Sunday.

The host-actress liked the concept that she agreed to be part of it immediately.

“Sabi ko parang maganda nga yung may ganyang tayong programa para hindi naman puro depressing na mga balita ang napapanood natin. Kasi may pinagdadaanan na tayong pandemic tapos yung mapapanood pa natin puro mga nakakalungkot na balita. Parang maganda naman na let’s look at the other side na positive pa rin. May magaganda pa ring nangyayari kahit na may pinagdadaanang pagsubok ang ating bansa,” she said.

Aside from inspiring stories, “I Feel U” will also have celebrity guests who will perform, talk about what they have been up to, and even reminisce about their past projects.

For its pilot episode, among the celebrities who were featured were ABS-CBN chief content officer Charo Santos-Concio, Angel Locsin, Jericho Rosales, Angeline Quinto and Carol Banawa.

When asked who else among her colleagues she wants to see in the future episodes of “I Feel U,” she said: “Honestly wala pa akong naiisip ngayon kasi kakasimula pa lang ng program. Hindi mo pa siya talagang napag-iisipan. Siguro ako anyone na may inspiring story na masarap i-share sa mga taong nanonood.”

Gonzaga said the show will also play a role in linking overseas Filipino workers to their favorite celebrities and even family members here in the Philippines.

“Actually itong show na ito ang magtutuloy ng connection talaga, magko-connect sa mga pamilya natin all over the world na sabik na mapanood ang mga programa ng ABS-CBN, sabik na makita ang mga artista ng ABS-CBN,” she said.

“Through our program, you will get to reminisce the past movies that you have loved, your favorite stars. Hindi lang yung favorite celebrities ang makakakuwentuhan natin. We can also talk to our Kapamilyas abroad and here in the country. It’s an interactive show so mas free flowing siya, mas open. Hindi siya restricted na pang-artista lang,” she added.

With this new program from ABS-CBN, Gonzaga said it just goes to show how resilient Filipinos can be.

“Ang galing nga eh. Doon mo makikita yung resilience natin bilang tao. Nakakagawa tayo ng paraan,” she said.
