(UPDATED) When it was announced that a spine injury forced Angel Locsin to exit the planned "Darna" adaptation, many were left disappointed. But fans of the actress can take comfort in knowing that she isn't done with making movies altogether.

On Tuesday, Star Cinema revealed that she will headline an upcoming flick with former onscreen partner Richard Gutierrez, whom she last worked with in the 2007 drama "The Promise."

"Bago ko pa narinig iyong story ay sinabi na sa akin na, 'Are you OK with working with Chard?' Sabi ko, 'Game, anong oras iyong call time ko?' I'm very excited na makatrabaho ulit si Chard. Sobrang nami-miss ko siyang katrabaho," Locsin told reporters.

One of the popular love teams of the mid-2000s, Locsin and Gutierrez topbilled six other big screen outings from 2004 to 2006. The currently untitled movie from Star Cinema is their first in a decade.

"Iyong nararamdaman ko ay more excitement," Gutierrez admitted. "And at the same time, I consider this a challenge kasi it's a big movie and iyong role ko requires a lot from me so I will definitely prepare. Pero more than anything, I'm excited."

The movie also stars Angelica Panganiban.

Locsin and Panganiban, last seen together onscreen in the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "One More Try," recently struck a close friendship following their respective breakups.

In an Instagram post last month, Panganiban told Locsin: "Hindi man fairytale ang simula ng friendship natin, naniniwala akong may happy ending tayo."

The movie will be directed by Nuel Naval, best known for his work in the James Reid and Nadine Lustre-led "This Time," "A Secret Affair," and "The Love Affair."

It will be about sisters-in-law who find themselves torn apart by accusations of infidelity.
