K-pop: IU releases song with BTS' Suga

South Korean artists IU and Suga of the boy band BTS released Wednesday their highly-anticipated collaboration, in what could be considered as one of the most high-profile team-ups in K-pop this year.

The song, "Eight," which was released digitally with an accompanying music video, was co-written and produced by IU and Suga.

The BTS member also delivered a rap verse in the pop-rock track.

Hashtags related to the song led Twitter's list of Philippines trends, with #IUxSuga generating over 1.4 million tweets.

IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, rose to popularity in South Korea through her 2010 single "Good Day." Most of her past singles peaked at No. 1 on Korea's Gaon Digital Chart.

Suga, whose real name is Min Yoongi, debuted in 2013 as part of the 7-member act BTS. He has also achieved success as a songwriter and producer in the Korean music scene.
