In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday at the press conference for his newest single "Waray Waray," which will be available on digital platforms soon, the singer said he opened up about the split to finally end speculations.

"I have to put this on record na lang -- hiwalay na ako since 2016," Zuñiga said.

In February 2016, Zuñiga cleared a "blind item" claiming that his relationship with Maroket has hit a rough patch. The singer denied considering a divorce, but admitted to having problems with Maroket.
"I went to the US to save the marriage pero wala talaga. At least I've tried," says Zuñiga, who admitted that he is no longer in touch with Maroket.
