MANILA — Staying home for JC Santos — a mandatory measure amid the coronavirus pandemic — has meant finally spending precious time with his newborn daughter.

Prior to the lockdown, Santos had been juggling promotions or production of five films, just as he and his wife, Shyleena Herrera, welcomed their first child together.

Santos was in fact "running on coffee" in March, as she shuttled between his home in Pampanga, where he would take the "graveyard shift" caring for their daughter, and Quezon City, where most of his work was based.

But these days, Santos only has to busy himself with daddy duties — a change of pace that coincides with his newborn's second month.

"Happy 2nd month to my funny little cream puff!" Santos wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend, with photos of him with his baby girl.

"As soon as the mall opens, I promise I will buy you a dress. Para 'di ka na mapagkamalang boy," he added, in jest.

Santos, 31, previously admitted to having apprehensions about being a first-time dad. However, he said he is certain of the values he wants to instill in his daughter.

"Gusto ko siyempre makuha niya 'yung discipline, gusto ko makuha niya 'yung idea ng consistency, at iyong pagpapahalaga sa tao," he said.
