MANILA, Philippines - It was a landslide victory for Star Cinema's "In My Life" at the 26th Star Awards for Movies on Saturday.
The film won best picture, best director for Olivia Lamasan, best supporting actor for Luis Manzano, best actor for John Lloyd Cruz, and best actress for Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos.
In his live interview on “The Buzz,” Manzano admitted that he initially declined the movie because of 2 issues - taking on a gay role and a kissing scene with Cruz.
“It's not for example, 'O Luis, your next project is with KC (Concepcion), your next project is with Anne (Curtis) o 'yong next movie mo kasama mo si Toni (Gonzaga).
"'Yong 'Ah Luis, ang next project mo kasama mo si John Lloyd at gay kayo at may kissing scene.' Initially, siyempre it was a shocker for anyone. So, I declined. But after realizing how big of a project it is, I'd be working with a great director and unbelievable co-workers... siguro I'd be dumb to really say no to a project like 'In My Life,'" he said.
Manzano said he was glad that he eventually accepted the role. He also thanked Cruz for helping him in the project. He said the role had forced him to step out of his comfort zone.
"It's not just about the awards or the money na kinita. It's the fact na maraming nagkagusto,naka-appreciate ng all the hardwork that we've put in," he said.
