MANILA — Despite a three-year hiatus from showbiz, it appears Claudine Barretto hasn’t lost her touch in acting, going by the teaser for her comeback project.

Barretto, dubbed local showbiz’s “Optimum Star,” is taking on her first lead role since 2016 via the April 27 episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).”

It will follow the life story of RJ Cunanan, a dancer whose dreams are sidelined because of a condition that paralyzes parts of his body. Barretto portrays RJ’s mother, Vhing, while breakout actor Jameson Blake plays the young dancer.

On Instagram early this week, Barretto shared a photo of her with the real-life Cunanan, as she shared her realizations from his story.
