Nate Alcasid, along with Velasquez’s mother, Teresita, were among the special guests on “ASAP Natin ‘To” on Sunday, which saw a tribute to the songbird ahead of her 49th birthday on April 22.

Both of them, along with Ogie Alcasid, each performed with Velasquez before giving her a birthday message.

Nate, 7, started by thanking his mother for loving and taking care of him, but could not finish his sentence as he was overwhelmed with emotions, and instead hugged Velasquez.

“Are you okay? I love you,” Velasquez said. “You know mommy’s just busy nowadays, but you know I love you, right?”

The heartwarming exchange had every one on stage crying, including co-host Sarah Geronimo, whom Velasquez calls her “anak-anakan” and a close friend of the family.

Alcasid similarly failed to contain his tears as he took his turn to greet his wife, prompting him to switch on his comedian persona to make light of the emotional moment.

“Mahal, gusto ko lang sabihin sa ‘yo, maraming nagmamahal sa ‘yo,” he began. “Ako ay hindi magiging ganito kaligaya kung hindi dahil sa ‘yo… Minsan, sinasabi mo, [hindi mo alam] kung tama ba ang ginagawa mo. Basta nandiyan ka lang, sapat na ‘yon. I love you.”
