MANILA — “Hanggang Saan,” the 2017 crime drama series starring real-life mother-and-son Sylvia Sanchez and Arjo Atayde, is being adapted for television in Turkey.

Limon Yapim, a leading Turkey content production company, will co-produce with ABS-CBN “A Mother’s Guilt.” The adaptation is slated to air on FOX Turkey, said to be one of the most watched free TV channels in the country.

“A Mother’s Guilt” is scheduled to begin filming within the second quarter of 2019, and is currently in the process of casting, ABS-CBN International Distribution said.

“Hanggang Saan” followed the Alipio family in their journey to seek justice for Sonya (Sanchez), a mother who lands behind bars after being wrongfully accused of murder.

“The local adaptation of ‘Hanggang Saan’ in Turkey is another proof that Filipino stories have a global audience because our tradition of storytelling is always anchored on the universal theme of love for family. We are excited for viewers in Turkey to see it,” Laarni Yu, ABS-CBN International Distribution EMEA Sales head, said.

The Turkish adaptation of the Kapamilya series marks ABS-CBN’s first presence in the country — adding to its already wide reach with some 50 territories worldwide airing over 50,000 hours worth of its original content.
