MANILA - Christofer Mendrez, a band vocalist from Cebu, is the first contestant to secure a place in the second semi-finals of "Tawag ng Tanghalan," after defeating Mindanao's Thea Elaine Felisa on Saturday.

On an episode of "It's Showtime," Mendrez sang Boz Scaggs' "We're All Alone," while Felisa belted out Sia's "Chandelier." Mendrez had an average score of 93.2 percent.
