MANILA – Aiko Melendez is not backing down against her accuser who claimed that she is the mistress of her boyfriend, Subic Mayor Jay Khonghun, who is currently running for the vice gubernatorial post in the midterm election.

Although she did not name the person to whom she is addressing her response, Melendez told a certain “Madam Vice Governor” in a Facebook Live broadcast to just “stick to the issues” just like how it should be in elections.

She then clarified that she is not a mistress because Khonghun is no longer with his wife when she came into his life.

“Hindi po ako kabit. Una sa lahat, pumasok po ako sa buhay ni Jay, wala na po sila nung ex-wife niya. In fact, gusto niyo po i-check niyo po sa Olongapo, naka-file na po 'yung annulment nila,” she said.

“Hindi ko po kasalanan kung ang judicial system natin sa Pilipinas ay mabagal. That’s why I am for divorce. So how dare you call me kabit?” she added.

Melendez said she will also not enter a relationship where she would be a mistress because she knows how painful that is.

“Ayaw ko pong naaakusahan ng isang bagay na hindi naman po totoo. Una sa lahat, naranasan ko na po ang maagawan ng asawa kaya hinding hindi ko gagawin 'yun,” she said.

Aside from falsely tagging her as a mistress, Melendez did not like that her accuser even dragged her family to the issue.

Melendez said if a person does not have anything good to say about other people, it’s proper to just keep quiet.

“That’s what you call decency. Sometimes you really can’t buy class. I hope and pray that you can just buy it in a sari-sari store but you cannot. Sadly, sad to say, your kind of politics is so dirty. Napakadumi,” she said.

Towards the end of the broadcast, Melendez told the “Madam Vice Governor” that she will definitely be her “worst nightmare.”

“Madam Vice Governor, you are elected by the people. Act like one. If you want to be elected again by the people, then be decent. Have a decent mouth. Have some manners. If you can’t buy manners, at least read a book about manners. Maybe in own little way, may natutunan ka sa akin. 'Yun ay ang paggalang at pagrespeto sa kapwa babae mo,” she said.
