MANILA — Inspired by the theme song of the recent Southeast Asian Games, “We Win As One,” more than 20 Filipino artists have now joined forces for the “We Heal As One” music video.
The song, which debuted on Thursday, is looking to motivate the country’s heroic healthworkers and other frontliners in their fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, centering on the themes of unity and cooperation during this time of crisis.
Lea Salonga, who sang the “We Win As One” song, which was written by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab and award-winning writer Floy Quintos, is among the 20 local artists who performed the new song. Also involved are her fellow “The Voice of the Philippines” coaches Bamboo, Sarah Geronimo, and apl.de.ap. Check it out below:
The others are: Lani Misalucha, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, KZ Tandingan, Jamie Rivera, Inigo Pascual, Alden Richards, Isay Alvarez, Robert Sena, Pops Fernandez, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Paolo Valenciano, and Jed Madela.
All of the artists recorded their parts from their respective homes, in line with the song’s other message of strictly following the quarantine rules to keep the COVID-19’s spread from getting any worse. As of Thursday, the country’s total infected has reached more than 700.
The song also doubles as a call for donations for the Philippine Medical Association, in support of the healthworkers in the forefront of the country’s battle against COVID-19.
The “We Heal as One” song was arranged by Jimmy Antiporda and produced by Eloisa Matias.
