MANILA -- William Albert "Bill" Mott Sr., the American father of actor and former "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Tom Rodriguez, passed away Saturday afternoon (US time).

The report was confirmed by Rodrigez's talent manager, Popoy Caritativo, through a post on Instagram.

In his caption, Caritativo said Rodriguez flew to the US on March 17 to spend time with his family.

"We would like to ask for prayers for the Mott family at this very sad time," he said.

The actor's girlfriend, Carla Abellana, also paid tribute to Rodriguez' father in a series of Instagram posts.

"I love you, Tito Bill," she wrote in one of her posts.

No further details were shared about Mott's death, although a report on showbiz website Pep in 2016 said Rodriguez's father was battling lung cancer.
