MANILA — Actress Iza Calzado has been tested for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after being confined for pneumonia, she said on Wednesday.

"I'm currently hospitalized for pneumonia and so, I was tested for COVID-19 and I've been waiting for the results for several days now," she wrote in an Instagram post showing her in confinement.

Even as she remains uncertain about her condition, Calzado said her own challenging period "cannot compare to the frontliners who have cared for me and to whom I am so grateful."

Addressing her followers, Calzado asked for prayers for "those who are currently sick and their loved ones, for every person struggling to cope in these tough times, and most especially, for the medical workers who are doing their best despite the hurdles."

Calzado's testing for COVID-19 came a week after another actor, screen veteran Christopher de Leon, confirmed positive for the disease. He wad discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.

Calzado is one of the lead cast members of the upcoming teleserye, "Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin," whose March 23 premiere has since been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.
