MANILA - First-time director Ely Buendia has nothing but praise for Miss World 2013 Megan Young, who will star in his upcoming film anthology "Bang Bang Alley."

During a press conference for the theatrical release of the film, Buendia commended Young's professionalism, dedication and humility during the shoot.

"Sobrang walang sakit sa ulo. Super down to earth and super nice. Whatever you asked her to do, she would do it without question and with conviction," he said.

The 43-year-old rock icon also noted that aside from having the looks that won her the Miss World crown, Young has the acting chops to surprise viewers with her "daring" portrayal of a drug-addled rich kid.

"Megan had talent. She took a minute before rolling and she would become a totally different person," he said. "Hindi siya Miss World sa movie na 'to."

Buendia hopes that he gets to work with Young in another project, saying that the 24-year-old actress has a bright future in acting.

"The main thing that I want people to focus on in this movie is how good of an actress she really is and I hope na pag tapos na 'yung duties niya as Miss World, bumalik siya sa acting dahil marami pa siyang puwedeng gawin," he added.

Balancing passions

Asked about his music career, the former Eraserheads frontman quickly dismissed speculations that he would be leaving the industry.

Buendia revealed that aside from promoting "Bang Bang Alley," he is also working on a new album with Pupil.

"[Pursuing film] doesn't mean that I'm leaving music behind totally because I have a lot of upcoming music projects," he said. "May album ako with Pupil. As long as kaya ko and kaya naman, I would like to pursue both projects of mine."

Buendia, who counts acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino among his inspirations, also expressed his excitement over the prospect of directing another film, saying that he already has a concept in mind.

"Working on my first film made me realize that it really is something that I love doing. It also involves music, design, acting. Lahat ng art form na puwede mong gawin, nandito. So that for me is very fulfilling and interesting and I always like to learn new stuff," he said.

Co-directed by King Palisoc and Yan Yuzon, "Bang Bang Alley" also stars Joel Torre, Bela Padilla, Gabe Mercado and Jimmy Santos. The three-part anthology is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on April 9.
