MANILA -- Dani Barretto is the only daughter of Marjorie Barretto and Kier Legaspi but only one of them will be walking the bride-to-be down the aisle on her wedding day.

Dani made this statement in her vlog entry on Saturday where she talked about her relationship with her father at length for the first time.

“My mom is walking me down the aisle because it’s only right that she walks me down the aisle because she raised me on her own. Everything that I am, it’s all because of her. She is the most deserving to walk me down the aisle,” she said.

Dani said she hasn’t spoken to Legaspi for six years now and they ended up not being in good terms after the last time they talked.

“To be honest, my dad and I never really had a solid relationship. All I know is he’s my dad and that’s it. We had a brief relationship which was like two months. It was nice,” she said.

“I’m not going to say naman na I didn’t love him. I’m not going to say I don’t love him. It’s just that, I guess na when you’re apart for so long and you already grew up and nasanay ka nang wala 'yung tao sa life mo, you just feel like... not naman you don’t need the person, but you feel like you’re okay without them,” she added.

Despite their situation, Dani believes it’s better this way because she and Legaspi “are not hurting each other anymore by not just talking.”

“Maybe it’s for the best. We tried the talking thing and it didn’t end well for us. We ended up not in good terms and maybe that’s just it. That’s how it’s meant to be,” she said.

Dani then credited her mom for raising her so well that she never felt neglected or unloved.

“Tumanda na rin kasi ako. Parang at this point, I am 25. I am getting married, my life is just starting. Okay na 'yung life ko. I grew up fine. My mom really raised me well. Not that I never thought I needed him. Of course at one point in my life, I thought I needed a dad. But kung wala diyan sa harap mo, hindi mo naman puwedeng damdamin 'yun. Life goes on,” she said.

‘I WILL ALWAYS BE HERE’

Meanwhile, Legaspi took to social media to congratulate his daughter for her engagement and to express how much he loves her.

“Dear Aynrand Danielle, first things first, congratulations, I heard you are getting married. May both of you live a blissful marriage with plenty of children,” he began.

“I don't really say much about our relationship because I am certain that both of us know the truth. I believe that no matter what you say now can never change the truth and the memories we had,” he added.

Assuring his daughter that he will always just be there for her, Legaspi said: “Bata ka pa lang lagi na kitang hinahabol, you don't know what I had to do just to see you. Until now, I'm still waiting for our meeting.”

Legaspi then reminded Dani that he was the first man who ever loved her and that no matter what, she will always be his daughter.

“I will continue to pray for you and your family. Hindi importante ang opinyon ng iba. Para sa akin, kasama ang Legaspi family you will have a special place in our hearts. I wish nothing but the best for you. May God bless you and everyone you love,” he ended.
