MANILA - Heavy metal legends Slipknot has postponed its Asian tour.

On Twitter, the American band announced that its tour dates won’t push through as originally scheduled “in light of the global health concerns.”

“While decisions like this are not easy, the safety and well-being of the band’s fans always comes first. Furthermore in this case, the bands and artists, crew and local employees are also equally effected, and as such, this was the only responsible decision that could be made,” the band said.

“Slipknot and Knotfest will both return to Asia very soon and at such time that everyone can be ensured of the best experience possible,” it added.

The band’s Manila show -- a first in the Philippines – was originally scheduled to be held at the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City on March 29, 2020.

It is part of the current tour of the masked giants of metal who have sold more than 30 million albums, in support of its latest record, "We Are Not Your Kind."

The new album, which includes the single "Unsainted," debuted at number one of the US Billboard 200 charts back in August -- the first time a hard rock or heavy metal album topped the list since 2017.

Some of Slipknot's most popular hits include "Psychosocial," "Duality," and "Before I Forget."
