MANILA — Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza, who have finally gone public with their romance, are not the only real-life pairing whose love story has the colorful extra detail of prevailing over the so-called “network wars.”

Atayde, a homegrown talent of ABS-CBN, and Mendoza, one-half of GMA’7’s popular “AlDub” tandem, had for months stirred speculation about their relationship with sightings of them on numerous dates.

That the two are talents of rival networks was a fact often mentioned as fans pieced together their blooming romance, with some saying that it was a factor against a successful relationship.

But the couple now dubbed “ArMaine” on social media has proven otherwise, that love indeed prevails, and so have other Kapamilya-Kapuso real-life pairings over the years:

JUDY ANN SANTOS AND RYAN AGONCILLO

This couple’s love story blossomed on the set of “Krystala,” a 2004 Kapamilya fantaserye where Santos portrayed the titular superheroine and Agoncillo, the protagonist’s leading man. Agoncillo would go on to become a mainstay of “Eat Bulaga” in 2009, the same year they got married, while Santos to this day remains one of ABS-CBN’s most bankable stars. Hermosa and Sotto have been identified with ABS-CBN and GMA-7, respectively, for a greater part of their careers. They crossed paths professionaly in 2008, when they co-starred in the Kapamilya series “Prinsesa ng Banyera.” While they would eventually part ways onscreen, with Sotto returning to his home network, they vowed to stay together in real life when they got married in 2011. ALJUR ABRENICA AND KYLIE PADILLA

Abrenica and Padilla were both contract artists of GMA-7 when they first confirmed dating in 2011. That relationship lasted three years until 2014, when they broke up, before getting back together in 2016. Two milestones happened a year later: they parted professionally with Abrenica’s transfer to ABS-CBN, and also got engaged. They got married in December 2018. They have one child together. KIKO ESTRADA AND DEVON SERON

Working in the same network for an extended period appears to be elusive for this couple, who each switched from ABS-CBN to GMA-7, or vice versa, at different times. But that hasn’t stopped their romance from growing, with Estrada confirming in January 2019 that his former “Walwal” co-star is also now his girlfriend. Instagram: @jasondiazejercito
